Do you need money from the federal government? Well you can get it if the government decides to award the federal grant to you.

But what is a federal grant? Basically it is financial assistance given from one of the 26 federal agencies. When it is given, it is suppose to carry out a public purpose of support or stimulation authorized by a law of the United States.

Federal grants are financial assistance given by the United States government to support groups and agencies.  There are grant programs being offered by federal agencies, every year there are about 1,000 grant programs offered.  Grants can be used by the non-profit and non-government organizations like foundations and charities.

The government has been providing a lot of money of financial assistance which can be taken advantage of through grants.  The feral government has 26 Federal agencies and about 1000 grants available to different organizations every year.

Grants are provided by the federal government so that different organizations would be able to continue the services they render to the public, whether it is an art, education or research institution.  Contrary to what people usually think, federal grants are not free money.  It is a financial obligation that the recipient should fulfil or else face legal issues.

According to USAspending.gov, a website that promotes transparency, stated that in 2008, the United States government spent $106.464 billion dollars for federal grants. Last 2004, the government spent $15.5 billion, and from this amount education has the largest share of 23.4 percent, while health share followed suit with 22.3 percent.

Everybody seems to award health grants, the federal government, state and  even city governments award health grants.  Aside from federal grants, there are also big private foundations and organizations that award health grants and health care aids.
